Tawakkol Karman Foundation concluded its first summer camp in the Turkish city of Bolu on August 27, 2022, after five days of training and interactive activities aimed at helping young people develop practical skills and contribute to sustainable development.
Held under the title “You are your own project: Third Millennium Youth Camp,” the program brought together 50 young men and women between the ages of 18 and 25 from Yemen and several other Arab countries.
Throughout the camp, participants took part in training sessions on entrepreneurship, social media, digital marketing, dialogue and negotiation, life skills and personal development. The program also featured presentations of inspiring personal experiences and a series of interactive discussions.
The camp, held from August 22 to 26, divided participants into four teams, with each group tasked with developing a comprehensive concept for its own project.
On the final day, the four projects were presented to a jury for evaluation. The Qamriya team won first place and received an award from Tawakkol Karman Foundation, while the remaining teams also received recognition prizes.
At the closing ceremony, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and founder of Tawakkol Karman Foundation Tawakkol Karman encouraged participants to believe in their abilities and view self-confidence as an essential foundation for progress and achievement.
“I was very pleased to see this camp take place, promoting the value of knowledge and giving participants the opportunity to discover their potential and capabilities,” Karman said. “I am confident that these abilities will open many paths for innovation and help them build a future worthy of their ambitions.”
She added that experiences from around the world had shown how young people who first believed in themselves were often better positioned to pursue their goals, assert themselves and achieve lasting success.
The camp aimed to equip participants with practical skills for launching their own projects, using social media effectively, conducting dialogue and negotiations, and applying digital marketing tools to reach wider audiences.
It also introduced participants to the use of art in promoting entrepreneurial projects and provided them with knowledge and life skills designed to help them cope with everyday pressures and challenges.
